Mathematica Ported to Intel Mac, Takes Center Stage at WWDC

Published June 28, 2005

June 28, 2005–Mathematica has become the first external application to run seamlessly on the forthcoming Intel Mac platform. Theodore Gray, director of user interface technology at Wolfram Research, made the announcement at Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2005, sharing the keynote address with Apple CEO Steve Jobs.

The feat, Gray said, took only two hours to accomplish and was a testament to the impressive software engineering at Wolfram Research. “Before most other developers have even thought about how to port their software to the new Intel Macs–computers that Apple won’t even release for another year–we’ve already got a version of Mathematica up and running,” he added.

Gray has also appeared at WWDC 2003 and at Macworld SF 2002.
