March 18, 2009–Ahead of the release of Mathematica 7 Simplified Chinese Edition later this year, Wolfram Research today announced plans to showcase the software’s powerful new capabilities during the China Mathematica Tour 2009, which runs April 19 to 28.

With stops in Shanghai, Dalian, Shenyang, Harbin, Beijing, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen, the China Mathematica Tour 2009 will give both experts and beginners a unique opportunity to experience the powerful advancements of Mathematica 7, including integrated image processing, parallel high-performance computing, and on-demand data. The tour will also show Mathematica‘s impact on a wide range of areas, from engineering and finance to research and education.

Each half-day event features talks by Roger Germundsson, Director of Research and Development at Wolfram Research, and local Mathematica experts, who will demonstrate Mathematica‘s exciting new technologies, help attendees learn how to incorporate Mathematica 7 into their work, and share information about Wolfram Research’s exclusive programs for Mathematica users in China. Anyone interested in science, engineering, finance, research, or education is invited to attend the free events.

About Roger Germundsson

Roger Germundsson has been the Director of Research and Development at Wolfram Research since 1997. He has master’s degrees in electrical engineering and engineering physics from Linköping University, Sweden, the equivalent of a master of electrical engineering from Stanford University, and a PhD in control theory from Linköping University. Prior to joining Wolfram Research, Germundsson was a visiting professor at Stanford University. The Research and Development division at Wolfram Research includes all the development and technical departments at Wolfram Research, and Germundsson has been deeply involved in the architecture of new products as well as all Mathematica releases since 1997.

Roger has given the keynote presentation in a number of worldwide events, showing Mathematica in a range of disciplines, including academic, commercial, and government sectors. He also has a strong interest in high-performance computing.
